Since the inception of commercial whaling, over 3 million whales have been killed.
Since the 1986 Moratorium on Commercial Whaling, over 40,000 whales have been slaughtered for profit!
The Whaling Moratorium is not being enforced!
Its time to “Save the Whales Again!”
Right now, despite the worldwide moratorium on commercial whaling, whalers from Japan, Norway, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands are going to kill over 4,000 dolphins, whales, and porpoises this year.
JAPAN WHALING:
Masayuki Komatsu, A former Japanese Fisheries Minister said this: “There are so many whales …they are the cockroaches of the sea…
Which of course is completely not true!
Since 1986, Japan has defied the moratorium by killing over 20,000 whales under the guise of “lethal scientific research”.
In 2019, Japan left the IWC and started killing whales, dolphins and porpoises in their territorial waters.
Their quota for this year is 350 whales and over 2,000 dolphins and porpoises which is not sustainable.
We must stop this needless slaughter!
NORWAY Whaling:
Norway has also defied the commercial whaling moratorium, killing over 500 minke whales per year as well. This year their quota is over 1,100 minke whales.
The IWC has consistently and repeatedly issued Resolution after Resolution demanding that both Japan and Norway stop, but both countries simply ignore the Resolutions as they have no teeth.
The only way to stop whaling is through political and economic means!!
Iceland Whaling:
Iceland has also defied the commercial whaling moratorium killing thousands of minke whales and endangered fin whales.
In a shocking decision, on December 2, 2024, the Temporary Icelandic Government approved a 5 year quota for Iceland to kill over 900 endangered fin whales and over 1,000 minke whales. This is outrageous!!
The Japanese, Norwegian, and Icelandic Governments are all subsidizing the killing of whales!
It’s Time to Stop Whaling Now Before It’s Too Late!!
It’s Time to Save the Whales Again!!!
