LOS ANGELES, CA — The Environmental Media Association is honoring Hayden Panettiere for her dedication to ecological causes. Hayden will accept the Futures Award, which recognizes younger entertainers for their activism for wildlife and the environment.
The “Nashville” star has been active with The Whaleman Foundation, an oceanic research and conservation group, since she was just 15.

The 24-year-old actress said she’s excited to talk about her work with The Whaleman Foundation and “using my voice to protect our oceans and their amazing inhabitants.”

The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Oct. 19 at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, Calif.

This marks the fourth major environmental award Hayden has won for her work with The Whaleman Foundation whose mission is to forever preserve and protect dolphins, whales, and our oceans. Hayden’s previous awards include top honors being awarded the Gretchen Wyler Award at the 2008 Genesis Awards, PETA’s “Compassion in Action” Award in 2009, and being honored with Variety’s 2011 “Power of Youth” Award.
